-Won’t lifting heavy weights make me bulky?

This is definitely one of the biggest concerns from our prospective female members. The short answer to this question is no, CrossFit will not make you bulky.

Lifting heavy weights produces tight, dense muscle fibers. Once the layer of fat is reduced, the muscle is revealed and the ever-so-popular “toned” look appears. Some rare people are genetically programmed to get bigger than others, but they are the exception. For the vast majority of us, it takes a lot of eating (I’m talking about an uncomfortable amount) to gain enough muscle to look bulky. Basically, we will not get “bulky” by accident.

Here at Copperhead CrossFit we encourage and congratulate our strong ladies.  We strive for improved performance and our bodies reflect that.
